This webring is a community for websites about volkssporting. A volkssport activity is a non-competitive sports event, usually a walk (volkswalk or volksmarch), bike (volksbike), swim (volksswim), or cross-country ski (volksski or skiwandering) through a scenic and/or historic area over a predetermined route. It is not a pledge walk or a race; it is a fun sports activity in the great outdoors you can do with a club, with your family, with your pet, or all by yourself at your own pace. Volkssporting got its name from its origins in Europe, literally translating as "sport of the people."

My attempt to walk all Texas Counties by walk_texas (07/13/2010 10:38:21)
I have been a volkssporter for over 13 years. During that time I have kept track of the counties I have walked in Texas. Texas has 254 counties. I have walked in 129 of the so far. If I am lucky I will get to add three more counties to my record this fall. There are walks coming up in Shelby County (Center, TX), Loving County (Mentone, TX) and Reeves County (Pecos, TX) this fall. God willing, I will get to do these walks.
I have crated a map to show the counties I have walked. I have colored in the counties I have walked. If you put the curser over one of the colored in counties it takes you to a listing of walks I have done in that county. Many of the listings have pictures from the events.
Looking back at the pictures is a lot of fun, and brings back good memories of events walked and people I walked with.
