The Metzler Formula, Calculating the Brazen Sea: its Pi
The biblical description of the Brazen Sea is often wrongly quoted to prove that Pi is exactly 3 (a circumference of 30 divided by a diameter of 10). If the Jewish engineers of King Solomon's golden age had not known Pi with more precision, they could never have made this great round bronze vessel: It held 2000 Royal Bats = 500 or 10 x 10 x 5 cubic cubits.
