Grasshopper Pilot: Salerno to the Yalu
Major James R. Stegall was a Liaison Pilot in WWII and Korea. He participated in the Salerno Invasion, the Invasion at Inchon, the push to the Yalu River, the retreat out of Chosin to Hungnam Harbor, and the push back from Pusan to the 38th Parallel. He earned the DFC and two Silver Stars.
While in Italy his L-4 (Piper Cub) had an encounter with a German ME-109.
