A group of web sites devoted to oriental brushstroke painting. This painting can be done totally in black, using an ink called in Japanese, sumi-e, or in different colors. The characteristic strokes produce very realistic scenes, with a style particularly attractive to the aficionados of Asian art. A favorite subject is the calligraphy of Japanese and Chinese, which tends to be cursive in nature, with a number of different styles. Children spend many hours learning how to write beautifully, and some people make this a special art of their own for life. Even the calligraphy is highly decorative, and often added to paintings of nature.
