A talented left handed pitcher, outfielder and switch hitter, Ted toured with the Pittsburg Crawfords and the Cleveland Buckeyes of the Negro League and two other clubs before Jackie Robinson broke the MLB’s color line in 1947.
Toles was noted for his fine fast-ball, his
deceptive off-speed pitches and
prowess at the plate. Some content that Ted could have made the Majors.
