This ring takes up the discussion of organ donors. The dangers of agreeing to be a donor, and of agreeing to accept a transplant are the topics here. In particular, the fact that organs are being taken from still living persons is documented. Stem cells are also discussed. Embryonic stem cells are taken from living embryos, who are human beings, just very young and very small. All research done with them to date has produced no positive results, but rather horrible consequences such as brain tumors and uncontrollable twitching in people with Parkenson's. On the other hand, adult stem cells are being used for nearly 100 medical conditions, in human beings, successfully. The first adult stem cell transplants were the transplanting of bone marrow to combat leukemia. That's how long this technique has been in use: for decades. Adult stem cells include cord blood and placental cells, and cells from the body of the patient himself. They do not cause tumors or other adverse effects, and there is no problem with tissue rejection.
