Cooking At Sea - B y the fourth day, the seasickness had vanished and a cooked meal seemed delightfully appealing. I've only ever killed one person in my life and she wasn't anyone I knew. I didn't kill her on purpose and I wish it hadn't happened; nor am I solely or even mainly responsible for her death.In 1977 the Social Security Administration's downtown Los Angeles office hired me as a clerk; almost everyone who worked there was a clerk, but unlike the others, I was a multitasking hither-and-yon troubleshooter, locating missing checks, filing denied claims (after reading them -- not part of the job) and endlessly pestering the claims clerks to learn whether the recipients of welfare "loans"

I've only ever killed one person in my life and she wasn't anyone I knew. I didn't kill her on purpose and I wish it hadn't happened; nor am I solely or even mainly responsible for her death.In 1977 the Social Security Administration's downtown Los Angeles office hired me as a clerk; almost everyone who worked there was a clerk, but unlike the others, I was a multitasking hither-and-yon troubleshooter, locating missing checks, filing denied claims (after reading them -- not part of the job) and endlessly pestering the claims clerks to learn whether the recipients of welfare "loans"
Feedng the Dogs
Standing at the sink making updinne for the dogs each night I look at the work it takes to get the two little mutts to eat their food - scraps, canned food carefully mixed and laid out just so - and then I glance at the big guys dish - a lab like Marley, he can and DOES eat anything - and I feel a momentary twinge of guilt for not doing the same for him.  But then I just plop it in front of him with a 'here you go big fella' and then carefully walk into the other room with the two little gourmet preparations.
