The 47's
The aim of this web site is to provide a comprehensive study of Brush Sulzer Type 4, or Class 47, locomotives. The study begins in the early 1960's and ends in the present day; a period of time that encompasses the development and introduction of the class, the diverse range of duties which the class performed so well, an array of technical variations; a profusion of re-numberings, namings, de-namings, re-namings; a myriad of liveries; and finally, re-builds, the scrapyard, or heritage.

The Fifties
This site contains a total of over 4,000 photo's featuring all fifty 50's, contributed by more than 180 photographers. The collection spans the life of the 50's from their early days on the LMR, through their long tenure on the WR, the finality of the scrapyard or, for the lucky ones - preservation. Photo's are included of every nameplate and livery carried by the class. A few photo's of DP2, the prototype upon which the 50's were based, are included for the sake of completeness.
