Find here sites concerning (selling, praising, picturing, describing, otherwise involving) any kind of foundation garments, including but not limited to girdles, bustles, corsets, brassieres and other body-shapers. Pictured: American expatriot dancer Josephine Baker (June 3, 1906 – April 12, 1975), photographed by French Walery (1863-1935), wearing the original version of her "Girdle of Bananas," which she first wore publically in her revue, "La Folie du Jour" ("The Folly of the Day"), which ran from 1926 to 1927 at Les Folies Bergère. Later incarnations of the outfit, worn for her "Banana Dance," included a banana skirt and on occasion excluded any covering of her bosom (not even as much as you see here) -- but always included her big, beautiful smile. Baker became a French citizen in 1937.
