Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:24-26 NASB) When I was in college, I made a little money being a physics tutor to a high school student. We would meet a couple of times a week at the library, and I would answer her questions and help her with her homework. Towards the end of the semester it was time for the final project which was to build a mouse trap, similar to the old board game. I was more than happy to help build the mouse trap, but after we brainstormed she said, "my daddy is going to help me build it." A tutor can help us with our homework and answer questions, but given the choice building the final project with our father is so much better. The law can tell us about what we should be doing and how a Christian should live, but for our final grade will be based on the relationship we have with our heavenly Father. Christ's death and resurrection make a relationship with God possible, and I'd take living under the grace and love of God over living under the tutor of the law any day!
