Platform at Calhan, Colorado
Our society is currently working on 1 of 13 projects to restore railroad structures in the Rocky Mountain west. One of these is the CRI&P Depot in Calhan, Colorado. We know that in 1903 it was packed cinders, but have been told by various individuals that in the 1920's it was brick, concrete, asphalt and wood. No one seems to know and as this is to be a totally authentic restoration we want to be as accurate as possible. The other depots we are trying to restore are the ATS&F depot in Las Animas, Co., the Denver and salt Lake depot in Craig, Co., the Dumont Depot in Dumont, Co., the Grand Junction Depot in Grand Junction, Co., plus 8 other depots. We know what the platforms were for these depots, but not Calhan.
