Missing Rings - 01/28/2012
http://www.webring.com/profile?y=glimpsesofgod

The following rings are my rings, rings that were mine and also were transferred back to me again (via ringalink). However, the transfer appears to have not completed as these rings show no ring manager and some are up in auction. Please have these rings restored to glimpsesofgod management.

You're welcome to bid on any that are up for auction. any that were direct transfers should end up in your account.

For example the first on the list is.

I already paid for these rings, once.

These are the remaining, that did not make the transfer.

Looks like they are, or are going, up for auction. One at least was acquired by another individual

No, what it looks like is either that 1.) WR's software failed to make the tranfer of of these rings and Support refused to make the correction and complete the transfers or 2.) WR purposely stole some of my largest and most profitable rings (having featured memters), perhaps even in vengenance.

This time, instead of looking at the first we looked at a ring in the middle. The invitee list says "all" so it is up for auction. It has clearly not been taken by "us"

Thank you for that response, even though selecting all was done by mistake and not rinkalink's intention.

None, the less, I have a Related Comment/Question:

The following change to your policy has shown in some of the "You are invited to takeover management of the WebRing" e-mails. However, such being the case, why is the option to Select All members even on a ring site, without warning the ring manger of what will happen, when you have no intention of honoring their Select All selection?

"If you think you might want to manage this ring, please visit the ring's hub page and ee if you would like to manage it. If you are the only invitee it will be transferred to you within 24-48 hours. If others were invited the ring will appear in auction within 24-48 hours - this email is just an alert to make you aware the ring is available."

the paragraph is largely self explanatory.

Yes, but the manager who is thinking of whether to transfer the ring ownership and is checking to see if any of that ring's members might be interested in managing that ring ... there is nothing (at that transfer link) to let him know that that is not what will happen, but that he will have immediately forfeited his ring and that none in that ring will have opportunity to receive the ring by transfer.

But also, in the rings that did not make the transfer to me, the invitations still had the old ring transfer invitation message on them. WR deleted my inbox, or I would copy/paste them to you.

But also, ringalink mistakenly hit the wrong button ... as WR well knows they also deleted all my homewithgod.com memberships (being my server was down), so the transfers would happen without their further support. So, no one (at WR) should be ingorant of the fact a mistake was made and you are not wanting to correct it. And I have already apologized for all the related inconviences to WR. I had no foreknowing of all the hassles that 'following ringalink's advise' would occur.

A manager who invites "all" is explicity inviting "all" - letting fate deermine who will manage the ring next, regardless of the email wording.

It use to be that, when a manager selected all, they then had the option of choosing amoung those who responded with interest.

Replied - 02/07/2012
it has never, ever, worked that way. Once management is relinquished it is not possible to manage the ring in any significant mannner. That's the point of letting it go.

Michael once told me different, but that the 'transferring ring option' had been turned off. Also, I use to notifiy Michael, when a multiple party invitation would come my way and, if no one else spoke up, he would complete the transfer (being he told me that that is how it is done, now - which was until recent).

Even so, that does not change the fact that ringalink had already notified WR of the desire to transfer those rings to me, prior to using the transfer option. And Support does correct 2.0 errors.
