Victorian Nails - Modern Style! - 01/25/2013

I have mentioned in the past my secret to faking a Victorian manicure -- clear nail polish with some red nail polish mixed in, till yielding a color and trasparency along the lines of grenadine syrup. Rouging the nails or buffing them with pinkening powders  was just about the only way the ladies of old knew how to color their nails. Alas, these tricks can be messy, usually don't last long, and might not always produce satisfactory results .   One hand is dressed with carmine-and-lard rouge , the other with my modern nail polish blend. Aside from the brighter gleam of the modern lacquer, you cannot tell the two apart.  The modern version also allows one to wash her hands as needed without necessitating the lady retouch her manicure each time this be done.
