We have often posted bits and pieces of beauty advice from Madam Qui-Vive, a beauty expert of the Edwardian era. Now Gibson Girl's Guide to Glamor is happy to have made available a rare work of her, Hair Dressing and Beauty Talks . Hair Dressing and Beauty Talks was originally published in 1912, apparently as a promotional piece for Sears, Roebuck and Co. which accounts for the rarity of this text. GGGtG's new eBook edition has been retyped for readability and includes the original illustrations. The woman who, in 1892, began writing a beauty column under the pen-name of Madam Qui-Vive ("on the alert") was really called Helen Follet Jameson a.k.a. Helen Follet Stevens. She was born 1873, and died in 1960 at age of 86.
