Gerbils Drink Very Little Water - 05/23/2013
Gerbils are desert animals and drink very little water, but you will want to rinse out the water bottle and replace it with fresh water every few days. Don't be surprised if your gerbil drinks only about a teaspoon of water each day. If you are going out of town for a few days and are worried that your gerbils might clog the end of their water bottle while you are gone by making a mountain of shavings, you can also leave some crickets or mealworms in the cage as a back up moisture supply. Your gerbil will get a little bit of moisture from eating the juicy bugs, but a water bottle should also be provided.
