Can't edit your blog? - 12/16/2009
You've successfully signed in to your WebRing blog, but you can't find the "edit comment delete" management links at the bottom of your posts.

In fact, most of your blog's usual page is missing and only a portion of your post is displaying.

Chances are, you have an unclosed multimedia HTML tag.

The two most common types of multimedia HTML tags are "embed" and "iframe".

When toggled into HTML view in your blog edit screen, make sure that for every embed or iframe tag, there is a complete set.

For example, an opening embed tag looks like this "embed". To close an HTML tag, use the same tag but include a forward slash to signal the end of the tag, like this "/embed".

How to gain access to your blog's edit screen
Of course, you can't close out your tags if you can't even edit the post. Here's a trick you can use:

1. Sign in to your blog in the usual way. The most recent post should open (minus the "edit" link).

2. View the page source (CTRL U for Firefox, Chrome and Opera - Right click then choose "View Source". This will open a page with your blog's HTML code.

3. Use your browser's Find function (CTRL F) to search for "edit" in the code.

4. Copy the URL that precedes "edit" and open that URL in the browser window you used to open your blog and open the page. Here's an example of what the page should look similar to:

After you enter this URL and go to it, the individual blog post edit screen should open and you can then edit your post to fix those pesky unclosed tags.

Please note: This trick will only work if you're signed in to your blog.
