So, I finished up my little disperse dyeing piece which, as it turns out, is a great sample piece for a future disperse dyeing class. What's really lovely about disperse dyeing, is that if you have limited skills, you can make something really pretty, such as the piece above. I did add some extra leaves to create more depth, and hand stitched veins on the leaves to create more texture... Similarly, I added some more bits and scraps of fabric to the little islands to give them more texture and weight. But there's not a significant  difference between the finished piece and where we started: Which could be framed just on its own. Disperse dye is a great equalizer, because you can have never done it before and produce something like the above piece, or be a median learn and create something like the below: Fern No. 2 (c) 2012 Kit Lang And more advanced learners can create anything they want! Winter is Coming (c) 2012 Kit Lang Or if you just wanted to make pretty fabric for other uses, you can do that too. It's why I really love the disperse dye technique.  It's a bit fussy, but once you've learned how to do the basic techniques, you can make nearly anything. So, last Monday I said that I needed to take a week or so to figure out what I'm doing next.  I have news on the front  - but before I begin that project, I realized I have some charitable contributions I need to whip up, a challenge piece that's due in a couple of weeks for Group of Eight , and a piece ...
